Warning for the LITTLE PARK skaters!!
City of St. Augustine "Public Works Deputy Director", Todd J. Grant came into Surf Station today with a warning for the Hamilton Upchurch Skatepark or "The little park". All of the graffiti drawing on the Great Wall of the Skate Park, and all of the beer bottles and other garbage around the park has to stop, or the threat to bulldoze the park is now open. Now, regardless of their lack of communication, and all of the grouchy neighbors ridiculous complaints, if we want the park to stay open, we must be a little more mature. Let's maybe get with the city about someone doing a mural on the wall like we did on the shop out at Treaty Park. As for the trash.. come on guys, pick up after yourselves. And don't be afraid to let us and them know your thoughts.. They're sure not shy with theirs!

They should bulldoze it an d build a shuffleboard park,it would be more this towns speed.
I wouldn't sweat threats from some county peeon, tell him he needs to smile when he cleans up those bottles and repaints the wall, then remind him of the current unemployment rate.

It is the "peoples" job to clean and maintain parks. For those individuals who litter and vandalize the park, it increases the burden on the people, ie local municipality in this case.
It also increases the burden on the nearby residents, who have already decided they don't like living near a skatepark.
My suggestion would be to refrain from vandalizing public or private property, smoke your dopestick well away from the park grounds and conceal any alcoholic beverage consumption while ensuring that no trace of such is left behind.
You can complain about the neighbors all you want, or about poor design, or whatever. A few short years ago, no park existed. It can happen again.
Skaters must do their part. On a public skatepark, that might include reporting offenders.

Just in reply..
I think that we should be allowed to complain, regardless of whether the park used to be there or not. The people that live in those houses gave their approval for this park, and are now regretting it. They have been regretting it since the first day it opened. They should just be able to whine and cry about every little thing, even BEFORE the wall was built, while we sit back and take it? You're right though, the trouble makers should be stopped, but that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't voice our opinions on the crappy build of the park, or the grouchy neighbors,
If anyone knows who is making graffiti on the wall, or anything else, let someone know, so we can TRY to keep this park going.
Don't forget we've still got Treaty. It may not be on the island, closer to where you may live, but it's an awesome park.
