Surf Report comments:

7:10 am: Small surf starts out the day. The waves are 1/2 a foot to 1 foot. It’s semi-choppy to choppy with the wind N/NE and increasing quite a bit early this morning. This will increase the surf. Our local buoy the early wave height reading is 2.3 feet at 5 seconds changed downward slightly from yesterdays 2.6 feet at 5 seconds. The marine forecast is calling for dramatically increasing NE winds today. The water temperature is measured at 60.4 degrees at The Pier this morning. 7:35 am: Early morning photos are up in box #1 and you can see the chop in the ocean as the wind picks up. . Small overall but there are some knee high to maybe thigh high peaks with a cross shore increasing N to NNE wind. Dean is calling for an increase today and yes it looks like it will happen. Looking up the coast, the Gray’s Reef Buoy is showing more wind pointing this way. The next report will liley show larger waves when we report….

3:00 pm: New afternoon photos are up in box #2 and you can the surf has come up! . Larger, choppy angled N swell waves pushing in and sweeping down the beach. Wave size easily thigh to rib high with larger waves at times in the chest high range. Maybe a few shoulder high peaks. Super drifty with the strong northerly flow….

A Following the cool last weekend in February, a nice warming trend will kick in through the work week. A weak cold front will drop down the coast to near the Cape where it will stall on Thursday, then pull back north over the weekend. What does this mean for our surf size? Walk up and down the beach, away or toward the sea, until the tops of the breakers are in line with the horizon. Then the height of the breakers will be your height plus or minus the difference to the level of the main (surf) backwash. In other words, if your feet are still dry, the breakers must be taller than you.
