Footage of South Africa shot on Ektachrome Super 8.
I shot on Super 8 for a few reasons:
1. The first time I saw 16mm projected I fell in love. I could go on forever about it but film has such a rich, unique quality and it lasts longer than any hard drive I’ve ever known. Super 8 is less expensive than 16 and comes in these fool proof cartridges.
2. I didn’t want to lug around a massive video camera or risk it getting stolen.
I shot with an old film still camera for the same reasons.
Cool video! Do you send the film off somewhere to get developed or use a projector + digital cam or something else?
Thanks Mike, I sent the film to Dwayne’s photo and Drew Miller and I projected it onto a wall and recorded it with my video camera. So I could have gotten a nicer, professional, transfer but I think for internet purposes this worked alright.
I love the look and feel, great filming and editing! Has that 70s vibe, and I think it would not be the same without the projector. Gave me the warm fuzzies this morning…thanks!
