Hello friends, today I will be teaching you how to grip a skate deck in seven easy steps.
Materials:
-One sheet of grip tape
-A screwdriver
-A razor blade
-An old skateboard wheel (optional)
How it’s done:
Step 1: Remove the adhesive backing from the sheet of grip tape and carefully place the grip tape onto the skate deck
Step 2: Pat down the board to remove any air bubbles that may have occurred while you were placing the grip tape on the board
Step 3(optional): This step is optional, but I often find that using an old skate wheel works really well for going over the grip tape one last night to make sure that there are no air pockets whatsoever left in the grip tape.
Step 4: Use the side of an old screwdriver to rub down the edges of the deck. The more you do this, the easier the grip tape will be to cut.
Step 5: Use your razor blade to carefully cut along the line you created with the screwdriver in the previous step.
Step 6: Use your screwdriver to rub down the rails of the board once more. This will help ensure that the grip tape doesn’t chip or get torn up once you start skating your board.
Step 7: Flip your board over to the bottom side and use a spare bolt to push holes through the grip tape for the trucks.
