I just read the letters which have been coming in after you questioned the relevance of your surf report/forecast.
I could not disagree with you MORE! “IRRELEVANT?”…Are you kidding me!?!?!?!?!?!?
Sure, there are other sources, but yours is by far the best thing out there. It is important to have a live human report on what they saw, even if their opinion is subjective, and after the early morning report, you could easily get by with just 1, maybe 2 (on a good day) report updates throughout the day, with no loss in quality or service to your viewers. We have your live camera and live wind gauge to provide updates anyway.
HOWEVER…Dean’s forecast is another story…It is irreplaceable. For those of us who need to PLAN to go surfing, it is so wonderful to have an experienced surfer/weather guy making the call…and Dean is seldom off in my experience.
To save yourself some effort, you could scale back the number of daily reports but please don’t cut back on Dean’s forecast….
Out of gratitude, I have ALWAYS spent my surf dollars at your shop…and if you ever had to charge us for Dean’s forecast to keep it going…count me in..
