BRAEDEN KOPEC: 2 COASTS, 2 PODIUM FINISHES, 1 WEEK
11 year old Surf Station rider Braeden Kopec has been on a roll with impressive finishes at two major events 2,500 miles apart. He placed 3rd overall at the NSSA East Coast Championships held at New Smyrna earlier this month and then just seven days later he placed 4th overall at the WSA Championship Tour stop #9 held at Salt Creek in California.
Only a couple days before the big NSSA event Braeden had just returned from two weeks in Costa Rica where he has spent the majority of his time surfing over the
past three months.
His most recent strike mission to Costa had him dialing in his backside attack on perfect conditions at Pavones along with hitting other great secret spots all over Costa. That backhand time paid off as the waves on the finals days of both events provided the best scoring potential and Braeden took advantage of the opportunities. Fresh off the plane from California this week, Braeden will head straight to Melbourne, Florida where he will compete this weekend at the ESA SE Regional Championships.
Braeden loves his Channel Islands quiver and it is growing and growing with eight CI boards in models of varying sizes and configurations for swells from perfect head high Costa Rica to barreling Salt Creek, California to back home here in Florida. So which one is his favorite CI board? “All of them!” he says!
Braeden is sponsored by O’Neill, FCS, Nixon, Oakley, SunBum, Channel Islands and The Surf Station.
