Hurricane Humberto has produced some all time tubes, tube rides, and stories. Here is one: Gabe Kling, enjoying time with buds @zandermorton & @jimmicane decided to try the local shorebreak. Gabe grabbed his board to go & bro Jimmy said “You sure you don’t want to bring a back up?
It’s pounding over there!”. So Gabe threw his son’s 5’ Stump beater board in the truck, just in case. Well, you can guess what happened, 30 minutes into the session a bomb comes through and SNAP! Gabe’s favorite CI is toast. Crack out the beater board, the waves are still fun.
One of the first waves on the soft board, Gabe snags this heaving, inside out throwing out tube! Gabe disappears deep in the tube, seemingly swallowed up, behind the crashing white water, and gone. But wait, he is spit out! Spit out with so much speed and exuberance, he chop hop / bunny hops with joy!!! See the 10 shot sequence by swiping the photo above.
Said Gabe, “When I paddled back out, so many waves were coming to me, including this one… I couldn’t believe it”. How did the soft surfboard ride in the tube? “Surprisingly, it held in well, I was so stoked.” A magic session, magic ride, all captured here, thank you Humberto. And a big thank you for back up surfboards
