After traveling through the Americas for a few years, I knew I wanted to start my own hostel. My original goal was to go to school for international business to get a solid foundation. Instead, I was presented with an opportunity to manage a surf hostel in one of the most remote parts of Nicaragua. I was responsible for everything, from day to day operations to hiring and scheduling volunteers. It was an incredible experience and I’m beyond thankful to Mind the Gap Nica in Playa San Diego for the opportunity. I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but it’s better to learn through practice than making them at your own business! This is my guide on how to manage a surf hostel in Nicaragua 😉
If you’re ever in Playa San Diego, be sure to look up Mind the Gap Nica! They are incredible people with an awesome place right on the beach. I won’t spoil any surf spots for the “locals”, but just know there is adventure at every corner!!
