Although technically still not really classic “opening day” Pipeline conditions, I was fortunate to catch the 2nd decent swell to hit the North Shore in this still-early winter season. Lots of sand on the reef, so not yet proper Pipe. A solid west swell or two will wash the sand down the beach and then Pipe should be doing its’ thing soon!
All the usual “Pipe Heavy” suspects were out in full force and catching some insane early winter tubes. I managed to snag a few of my own (when they let me) … but paid the price with a broken leash, a bunch of sets on the skull, and multiple paddle-ins back to the beach to get my board. Uncle Butch had to leave but made him stay to get one last wave. Ha.
Here are a few shots taken “by land and by sea.” Thanks to @jon.reiter for the insane water shots and to Uncle Butch @butch_youmans of course for the awesome land shots. Truly appreciate all the incredible photographers who sure ain’t getting rich out there … but do it for the joy it brings to everyone else!
