Surf Report Comments

Monday, November 4
Reporter: T. Strange
Surf Reports comments:
6:45 am: It’s looking like a bit of an increase since yesterday morning at this time.   Waves looking 2-3 feet and on the increase.   We have  semi-choppy conditions early with light onshore winds.  The marine forecast is calling for those winds to increase some today and more tomorrow.   Our local buoy is currently reading 6.2 feet at 8 seconds, way up from yesterdays 4.6 feet @ 6 seconds.  The water temperature is measured at 75 degrees offshore early this morning.  You can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.

.

7:50 amEarly morning photos are up box #1 and you can see we have potentially real fun surf to start out the work week.  The photos reveal some size, moreso than the early morning waves looked at the crack of dawn.   That matches with the increased buoy heights offshore.   The ENE direction of the swell says those larger waves offshore are heading this way…

.

1:30 pm:  New photos are up box #2 with the first 4 taken mid morning when it was choppier and not near as big.  All the rest of the photos in the slideshow are from early afternoon and wow o wow has the surf improved!  It’s much larger now.   Some overhead set waves for sure.   Lots of surfer having a hard time getting out so eat your wheaties before you go!

.

7:00 pm Evening Note:  So the data report from earlier, including the surf factor may be a slight overcall as the weather and waves became stormier after the early afternoon update.   We didn’t downgrade the report but just go with this note as it was not as good for a while and looked somewhat mixed up at dark. Overall fun surf but not too much to get hyped about.. except some of the sizable waves!

And on that note.. owe will call it a night and see what it looks like early in the morning… over and out..

Tropical Depression #18 (soon to be Tropical Storm Raphael) is organizing in the Caribbean Sea south of Cuba, forecast to become a Category 1 on Election Day before entering the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by mid-week. See what Dean has to say about the hurricane’s impact on our wind and waves in The Surf Station Forecast.  Here is an overview of a large-scale wind map and the tropical activity outlook map for the Atlantic basin.
