Surf Station board manager and team rider Sunny Stevens does a “Surfer Sunny” presentation every year for his wife’s class. It is so popular with the groms, that last year we did the whole school! It is at Island Prep here on the island.
We go over ocean safety, local marine life, beach awareness, lifeguard flag system, surf equipment, and surf spots. We also talk about Kelly Slater, Bethany Hamilton, & our local Pro Gabe Kling.
They get to touch Kelly’s board, see all kinds of fins, hold wax, earn stickers by answering questions, etc.
We also watch a quick surfing video of a local & he tell some surfing adventure stories.
Yea for Sunny keeping the stoke in schools!
