great presentation of this board as always from my favorite surf shop but not sure the board will work for me though i’m 6’0 tall and 215 pounds, i’m currently riding a firewire dominator 6’8 , love the board, but looking to get into a board in the 6’4 range maybee 21 across and 2 and half maybee 3 thick, so thinking about a another firewire, xandu , or ci buscuit so those are my 3 choices i’m pretty much looking at for a pre summer board that will handle 1-2 feet but give me some range in 4-5 foot juice as well. any suggestions on a board that rips in the pocket well in the range and deminions i want i’m all ears, or maybee i should go custom with a shaper and have him build me something cutomer for me that rips ??? anyway much aloha to you guys and hopefully something to play on when this north chop comes in this weekend maybee……..
Mark, the 6’5″ Black Flag might be a great choice for you actually. It is 6’5″x 20 1/2″x 2 3/4″. I have friends about your size that ride the 6’2″, so it should float you well. If you were going for the Biscuit, look at the 6’2″ as it is 6’2″x21″x3″.. but the performance might be a bit hindered compared to the BF Whip. Let me know if that helps you at all, I pride myself on my board presentations but being a small guy I tend to show the small versions of the boards so I can relate to the shape as if I were to ride it. Thanks alot!
Hi Matt, I’m currently using a 6’5″ Christian Bradley Ghetto Devil as my all round board. It’s got a lot of volume in it, 2 5/8 thick, 19 3/4 wide. Just before Christmas I bought an MTFa, 6’0. I love it, I want to ride it all the time even in the bigger stuff. As an intermediate surfer I’m feeling my CB is now a bit too floaty and big; I might have grown out of it.
I like the black flag whip and want an idea of what size to go for. I’m 6’1″ tall and 78kg. I think the 6’2″ would be perfect but want to be sure it’s far enough away from the MTFa so that I don’t have 2 very similar boards. What do you reckon?
Matt,
If you jumped down to a 6’0″ MTFa then a 6’2″ BF Whip should be great for you. They are very different boards but you shouldnt have a problem going back and forth between the two. For your size, that CB is quite big now… let me know if I can help you further. Matt@surf-station.com
hey what do you think about a 5’8 black flag whip for me. i have a 5’11 flyer right now and im wondering if the two boards will be for the same conditions. the surf around here lately has been from 4- 8 foot do you think a black flag whip could hold up in that? and do you think it is for the same conditions as the flyer or different? thanks
Zach, Email me your weight, height, experience and where you are surfing pre-dominantly and we can help you out, we have alot of great boards in right now. matt@surf-station.com
My son is 4’8″ 73lbs. He order the BFW. The guy at the surf shop said he should get 5’2″. It seems too big to me. He’s 11 and been surfing since he was 5. He is competing for his second year. Help???!!
I think I look stupid!
