Channel Islands New Flyer named 2013 SIMA Image Awards ‘Surfboard of the Year’
February 19, 2014 (Santa Barbara, CA) – Congratulations goes out to Channel Islands Surfboards on their sixth consecutive ‘Surfboard of the Year’ award at the 2013 SIMA (Surf Industry Manufacturers Association) Image Awards in Anaheim, CA last Thursday night.
The Channel Islands New Flyer was awarded the prestigious ‘Surfboard of the Year’ award as voted on by SIMA members and a select list of specialty retailers from across the country.
“We are certainly honored to be awarded the SIMA Image Awards, ‘Surfboard of the Year’,” said Scott Anderson, General Manager at Channel Islands. “Like the original Flyer, we felt the New Flyer would be ideal for a wide range of surfers who look for hi-performance and versatility in a small package, and it appears our dealers and customers agree.”

In early 2013, Channel Islands began testing the New Flyer in TLPC (TL Pro Carbon) composite technology which will be hitting surf shops this Spring.
“Surftech’s new TL Pro Carbon (TLPC) construction is well suited to the New Flyer design,” replied Anderson. “We conducted extensive testing of the New Flyer in TLPC technology here at Channel Islands headquarters and we’re loving how lively the boards feel. We’re excited to see the reaction to these boards when they hit shops in the spring.”
Once again, huge props to Channel Islands on their sixth consecutive Surfboard of the Year award! If you’d like to learn more about the New Flyer, check out the Channel Islands website. Head over to the Surftech website to find out more about the New Flyer in TLPC technology.
