It’s no secret that Channel Islands Surfboards have been working to push the limits of the highest levels of performance surfing since the brand’s beginnings in 1969. While Channel Islands will undoubtedly continue to work to be the industry leader in creating performance-focused surfcraft, they have not forgotten the core of what surfing is based on: having fun. Working with team rider Bethany Hamilton, Channel Islands has released a line of soft top surfboards with her design input and aesthetic direction, now available here at the Surf Station! These shapes range from 5’6” to the 9’ range and are perfect for just about any sort of surfer, from beginners stepping onto a surfboard for the first time, to advanced surfers looking for a fun time when the conditions are lacking. A blast from the past was spotted this past weekend as Gainesville resident Nic Mostyn, 21, was seen wearing our 80’s style Surf Station Shooting Barrel t-shirt. Mostyn was joining in on a classic log session in Jacksonville Beach, at popular surf break “The Poles”. Mostyn is a student of the University of Florida and when asked about his connection with the shop he said, “I heard about Surf Station when I moved to Gainesville for school. St. Augustine is the closest beach and Surf Station is the go-to shop in town.” Nic went on to say that he has been rockin’ our tee for almost two years, after winning it at an alumni challenge associated with the university. “If you look back through my Instagram,” Mostyn said, “about half of the pictures are of me wearing that shirt.” Keep repping Nic, the classics never go out of style!
