A virus that has been killing hundreds of bottlenose dolphins on the East Coast has reached Florida. The Daytona Beach News Journal reports that the disease, known as morbillivirus, has killed 753 dolphins between Florida and New York. It has been confirmed that a dolphin found in Jacksonville died of the disease and further testing is being done on animals that have washed up since. It is important to report any sick or stranded dolphins and to not approach them. They can be reported by calling 1-877-WHALE HELP.
