Weather Models Diverge on Where A Coastal Storm Will Form
A few of the noteworthy internet surf forecasters have shared images of weather models showing some possibility of waves in our future. These are 9-10 day forecasts, and have no basis in reality. Anything past 4-5 days on a forecast model is based on climatology, and should not be relied on for making decisions about travel plans south. However…they are good eye candy for Instagram, and people love them. So let’s see if we can stir the pot a little.
Both of these weather models show hints of a storm developing and some ENE wind pointed in our direction, which is a good sign! However, it is likely that these weather models are going to change significantly and one of them will trend towards the other one, and we will have a better idea of what’s going to happen in reality. I think it’s safe to say that it was an active fall as far as East Coast surf, and I would not be surprised if winter continued that tradition. Now….let’s just hope there are some light to moderate offshore winds to go along with that groomed long period groundswell.
