“Surf’s up at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville, FL through Jan. 20!
Catch a wave at our double-feature exhibition of “Surfing Florida: A Photographic History” and “Surf Science: Waves and Wildlife.” Through photographs and video, the exhibition tells the story of Florida surfers, whose hunger for waves and aggressive tactics have resulted in a number of world titles coupled with a deep cultural history. See how surfboards are crafted by hand and have evolved over the years with a display of vintage and innovative boards.
“Surf Science” explores the question “What’s under the surf?” It features specimens from the Museum’s research programs and displays about the science of waves and animals of the surf and beach, including little-known surfing animals, the International Shark Attack File, research on the rebound of sea turtle populations and much more!
Take a ride through this exciting exhibit, on display through Jan. 20, 2014. For more information, visit: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/
