New MR Twin + Stabilizer & MR Freeride Twins Hit the Racks
At the ripe age of 13, Mark Richard’s career as a surfboard shaper began to bloom. It wasn’t until the winter of ’77 that Richards shaped what would become one of his most iconic shapes: the Freeride Twin Fin. The speed and maneuverability of this board is what brought Richards to his first World Championship win in 1979.
Now, the FCS has paired with Richards to create the MR Freeride PG Twin Fin set. Modeled after his four time World Title twin template, the original Freeride twin set was cut from an old fiberglass skateboard deck. This upright set makes for a loose and free feel, with plenty of quick release off the top. The tip is more refined than the ever-popular MR Twin + Stabilizer twin set, increasing mobility and the ability of pivot. You can pair these fins with any retro-style surfboard, from fishes to funboards to any twin fin setup.
By comparison, the MR Twin + Stabilizer, which has fresh styles for 2023, produces exceptional drive and speed. The small stabilizer (centre fin) adds control while maintaining the freedom and maneuverability of a twin fin set up.
