I’m back on the North Shore of Oahu, AKA the rock, and it seems like just yesterday I left. Time really flies.
As always, not much has changed. The waves are still scary (though not today), the weather is amazing, and the lineups are packed. You can always count on those three things this time of year. In fact, the biggest change is that I’ll only be here two weeks (as opposed to 5 the last few years) and I’m no longer staying in a house situated on the sand at Pipe. Instead, Matix rented us a nice place on the cliff at Waimea. It’s typical to surf in front of where you stay most of the time, but this year that won’t be the case. Ya know, the Eddie just isn’t my thing.
I’m not complaining, I’m thrilled to be over here.
The last two weeks have seen a handful of amazing big Pipe days and great conditions, but now it’s small. It looks as though it will remain that way the next few days, before coming back up mid week. I’m hoping so, considering my time is much more limited, and it’s not a true North Shore trip surfing waist to chest high monster mush (A wave down from Rocky Point that was somehow the best spot to surf today.)
So, fingers crossed some real waves show up for me to surf and film, so I can edit more than just us watching football and goofing off.
FSU beat Florida today and Gabe and Jimmy were very happy.
