The all-new “CI Log” is a finely tuned traditional longboard. The goal of this design was to create a balanced longboard that could do it all—from tip to tail. It also had to perform at the very highest levels possible, while remaining true to the genre—by having a single-fin and no edge in the tail. Shown here is CI’s Devon Howard putting a 9’9 stock dims CI Log through its paces, demonstrating its great range, balance, speed and flow.
Further details: No edge in the tail helps facilitate the board’s incredible hold and sense of control while blasting through sections on the nose. To offset the tail draggy, boggy nature soft railed longboards are notorious for, CI’s Britt Merrick looked to partner with master craftsmen and longboard sensei Wayne Rich. “Wayno” designed and shaped the CI Log’s unique low apex rail to provide more drive, sensitivity, and certainty through turns than a typical “log” design would offer. He worked closely with Devon Howard to finetune the CI Log concept via his rider feedback. Devon, as you may recall, had spearheaded the CI Mid and TPH models.
The board’s overall performance characteristics are enhanced by having a wide hipped outline just behind the center point, giving riders added leverage to effortlessly swing the board around for setting up noserides or if wanting to ride in and around the pocket with ease, speed and control. The blunted nose design is intentional: It allows the front of the CI Log to be somewhat narrow 12” back from the tip which helps it fit easier into a high, tight pocket while at the same time provide plenty of surface area for you to comfortably perch all 10.
The CI Log is available in colorful resin craftsmanship (6-6oz. decks with 6oz. bottoms) with a satin sanded gloss resin finish, or clear with a T-Band stringer. CI also worked yet again with Wayne on designing a custom single-fin to enhance the board’s performance characteristics.
