We have quite a collection of DVDs here at the shop. Today I stumbled on the following: It Was Better Back Then
According to the packaging it is the lost films of Jerry Law from the 1970s. It features East Coast waves before the crowds and logos era and includes surfing from Greg Loehr, Mike Tabeling, Jeff Crawford, Regis Jupinko, Gary Propper, Claude Codgen, Richard Munson.
Check out this footage of Spanish House in 1974.
If you want to see more, the dvd is available in store and online.
what’s with the music? ruins it.
I’m with you on that one, classic analog footage with digital hyper soundtracks doesn’t work too well for me either. It reminds me of checking out some old bruce brown films that had “updated” soundtracks and it is kind of awful. Still, the footage is worth checking out I think.
Ha Ha,
Whats with the music. There was no Internet and video editing software, mp3’s, itunes, ipods, etc. back then dude.
Actually this is high tech for back then, appreciate what you have to work with.
I gotta jump in here. First off, you guys do a GREAT job with this site! One thing to be reminded of is old guys (like me, 51)are consuming the content.
The music is good but not for 1974 Spanish House. How about some Moody Blues!

Good stuff!
NICE FILM CLIP….Brings back a lot of memories of days just like that. Have been surfing Spanish House since the 60’s. No one around then. Is there any old clips of Shark Pit?….now that place got good too! Thanks for the memories.
Greg, I’m not sure what other spots they filmed as I haven’t watched the whole video and there isn’t a whole lot of info on the case. Glad you enjoyed the clip though!
where is spanish house? Down South?
Spanish House is located in southern Melbourne Beach, about a mile north of Sebastian Inlet.
