After months of anticipation, the New Zealand trip is upon us. Our first stop will be the world famous Raglan lefts, and so far the swell predictions I’m reading have us getting into some chest to head high glassy surf. Step one is getting there. We will be getting off the plane in Auckland at 5:45 am local time after 26 + hours of travel, and we will have to get acclimated to driving an RV manual transmission on the wrong side of the road. Gotta check this ridiculous vid out giving us a brief “Solid Waste Disposal” technique. Gotta love the Kiwi sense of humor.
Here’s the quiver. Not sure if it’s enough foam, but it’s all I got:
5’5″ x 19″ x 2 1/4″ Sharp Eye Disco (top)
5’8″ x 18 1/2 x 2 1/4″ CI Fred Rubble (bottom)
The red and purple is some sort of fierce swell hitting NZ tonight. When you animate the swell maps, you can see how these things come out of the southern ocean. These are the same swells that generate waves for Fiji, Teahupoo and even go all the way up to Trestles.
I would wear gloves during that process for sure. If not definitely wash your hands very well and don’t just settle for hand sanitizer. Many believe it replaces washing your hands but it does not. You don’t want to spoil a surf trip from getting sick from dealing with waste water.
Timmy, I got a procedure the astronauts use aboard the ISS to swap out toilet buckets. I can hook you up. =) Love ya guys! Agree with the above comment. Respect the toilet cooties, the nastiness can hurt you.
Poop outside, like a man!
