Commentary on 2021, written by Tory Strange
Dear surf community: Another fun year of surfing here in Saint Augustine!
What did this year leave us with as we close out 2021?
There were no major ‘close call’ hurricane swells (remember Irma and Matthew?) this year, but instead, we had some extremely good, more distant swells.
Remember the multiple days of near perfect waves from Hurricane Larry? Some of the best waves ever, here in the Oldest City. Also many unnamed great swells peeled across our sandbars.
What will 2022 bring? I have a gut feeling there will be some epic swells this coming year. Our surf forecaster Dean will be here to give you the heads up early, well before they arrive. And our team of surf reporters will give you an ‘eyes on’ report with photos of the action each day. Plus, early this coming year, we will be adding a 3rd surf cam to our already up and running 2 cams reporting from 3rd Street and The Pier. You will be able to watch the ocean live, better than ever before.
We are here to serve you. One of our goals is to help our customers relax more. And what better way to relax… than a great surf session!
Here is to much great surf in 2022 : )
