Hello, thank you as always for your stellar and unparalleled surf forecast/reporting. On the category “hard to paddle out”, is that a 1 to 10 scale or 1 to 5 scale? It does not say. I paddled out a 10 foot board on Thursday and I would’ve given it a 9 and a half or 9 7/8 on a scale of one to 10…But I made it!
Thank you, Anthony Ackrill

Anthony,
The ‘Paddle Out Factor’ is a 1-5 scale. A “5 “is ridiculously hard to paddle out in! Your average surf day may only be a 2.5. Along those lines (but different) is our ‘surf factor’ which some say is closer to a 1-5 scale as it’s super super conservative (but we try to keep it consistent) and is a 1-10 scale. Not too many perfect days around here, and not many get above a 4. We all have other things to do in life so we need to know when to go. If you check it often, you can get a feel for what a good surf day is for you.
