Hey Surf Station! I’m loving the new Pier Surfcam, but noticed sometimes it’s pointed north of the pier, sometimes across the pier to the south. Is there some rhyme or reason to where and when it faces? One evening it looked like someone was driving it back and forth zooming in and out? I’ve been talking about it out in the water and have heard the same from other surfers like people cant figure it out.

Good morning!
Yes since it is still brand new we are still experimenting with it and trying to figure out the best angle. Which one do you prefer?
Usually when move it to a certain side it’s because the side it was just on is not breaking near as good.
The north side next to the pier has the best angle overall and you can clearly see surfers catching waves and riding waves and this is the best view. However on a north wind it can get quite choppy here and when no one is surfing there and it’s crossed up chop so we move the cam to the southside to shoot down the beach and hopefully slightly cleaner surf on the southside.
At night, sometimes we move it to the boardwalk as it’s dark in the ocean and the boardwalk view shows something over nothing.
I hope this info helps and any feedback is appreciated
