Hoping someone can get this email to Tory, thanks in advance. Thursday I walked into Surfstation, the young man at the counter, I think he’s 19, greeted me which such majority and respect, he quickly provided me with the skateboard wheel bearings I needed. I said, I actually need some help with a long board, no problem this young said, Alex is right up those stairs and I think you’ll find he knows his stuff ( not exact quote but that was his point). Alex was more then I can hope for, I’m 67, 6’2” and returning to surfing after 50 years and in the 60s n 70s I surfed short boards and the new fish that just came around. Alex may be in his mid or late 20s but he truly is a bit of an ol-sole when it comes to boards and of course the new stuff he was all over it. After showing me the boards how they are different in shape, materials used and who builds each and how… I became very comfortable with the decision to purchase the White long board that Alex introduced me to and sold me. I’m getting old, I have injuries but push forward to re-learn something I was once good at, Alex quickly saw that in me and understood where I was at and wanted to go. Having a local shaper/board man and having a local young man like Alex to put it all together means a great deal to me. I’m an ex Maine scallop fishermen, old school yes but I saw some old school in Alex even at his young age. My 7’2” “ every day rider” board was shaped and built by brothers Andy and Ryan McDermott of Blacks Point Surf Shop in Scarborough Maine, So now with out intention I have a Black board n a White board. Thanks Alex and the young man at the entrance counter.
