On Saturday night the surfer community gathered for the Lost Atlas premiere at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The event was sponsored by Nike 2.0, and included performances by Le Blorr, Sunbears!, and Darkhorse Saloon. Everyone danced in the pit as they waited for the showing, and enjoyed food sold by local taco shops. The showing began around 9pm and last until 10pm. It was a great event that brought everyone together for a fun summer night.
Lost Atlas was directed by Kai Neville. He has been known for his “Modern Collective” as well as his “Landscape Altered”. In this film, he focused on providing more spotlight to some of the newer surfers, such as Owen Wright, Julian Wilson, and Wade Goodall. He also filmed a lot of younger surfers which was inspiring. The film was shot in under 12 months and provided a more raw experience to the surfer world. The locations in the film were France, Mexico, Portugal, Costa Rica, Australia, and Indonesia, some of the world’s greatest surf spots.
There was a mutual consensus that the film was a success. It was a great way to wrap up the Summer.
