All that time spent in the lineup at Hawaiian hotspots is starting to payoff for the 21-year-old Peruvian.
On January 28th, during a free-surf session surrounding the freakishly good conditions seen at the Volcom Pipe Pro, Tudela clawed his way into an immaculate Pipeline drainer. He dropped in, disappeared behind a turquoise curtain and was spat out into glory.
Classic Pipeline. Not a drop outta place.
Here’s what he had to say:
“That day was supposed to be huge. I surfed Himalayas in the morning but the swell dropped really fast so I went back to the Volcom house and Pipe [the Volcom Pipe Pro] was about to start, so I paddled out with just a couple other guys. The waves never stopped getting better and better.
I was paddling the hardest I could. I was a little behind when I caught it and I thought I was to deep but it went so perfect that I managed to get a nice pump and position inside that let me out. It was an incredible sensation and I was more than stoked.” -Miguel
