Today was the first day of the US Champtionships at Lowers.
It’s set up kind of like the Nike 6.O with showers, tents, food , tables with umbrellas and chairs, event parking with a shuttle to take you straight to the event so you don’t have to do the 30 minute trek down the trial. Today they ran the men’s, legends, boys under 12 and boys under 16 opening rounds.
The East Coast had Daniel Glenn and Coby Gitner making it through their first heats. We didn’t stay for the Boys under 12 because I was ready to get to Salt Creek to catch some waves myself since it wasn’t breaking anywhere else at Trestles.
Noah was so stoked to meet Kolohe Andino and Kanoa Igarashi, who’s hand-me-down board he’s got. They were both really friendly and happy to meet Noah too. Who knows, maybe they’ll want to hang with him. (yeah right)
Tonight we had a great time at the premier of the Hot 100 and Code Red sponsored by Surfing America at the local movie theatre in San Clemente. Pat O’Connell was one of the hosts.
It’s off to bed for us. Wish me luck tomorrow!
