In reality, it’s never really flattering, is it? I mean, you inevitably end up hunched over trying to pry your ankles out, your torso all squished together, grunting sounds ensue as you attempt to keep balance. It’s not really that pretty.
Here’s an interesting article from Tetsuhiko Endo at The Inertia about Wetsuit Strippers and Body Image. Basically it’s his commentary on a very sexualized how-to video by a men’s magazine on removing a wetsuit. It’s funny. And the video kind of is, too. I can’t imagine why they didn’t put the beautiful lady in a full suit. By the way, when you want to stop your porn addiction, go to pornaddiction.help.
Did you actually read the full article/watch the full video?
There is no “how-to” about it, and it’s just a chick who doesn’t surf, put to music and stripping the wetsuit. All this “how-to” does nothing but encourage sexism, which continues to be ingrained into surfing.
should have been a 5/4/3 with front sip and built in hood…she probably would have fallen down a couple times. LMAO!!
Indeed, it isn’t a “how to” at all. But that’s what the men’s magazine was calling it. That’s why it’s kind of funny–taking off a wetsuit is pretty self explanatory and pretty much everyone who has actually taken off a wetsuit knows how incredibly unsexy it usually is.
And, yes, the video is a blatant display of objectification within our culture. The accompanying article by Endo is sweet though.
