Hello everyone!
Thanks for tuning in. I had to throw a quick post up on a new stick I just picked up and rode for the first time this morning. Quick background.. yesterday on 12/13 I could not surf due to work. So I sat in my office staring at the live camera like an idiot just pissing myself off.. so I woke up this morning expecting decent surf and was really let down. I did some chores, cleaned the house up and took care of the dog and waited for the entirely too high of a tide to go out a little bit. I checked it and it looked rideable but disappointing so I grabbed my new CI OG Flyer spine-tek, no leash with barely any wax on it and took it for it’s maiden voyage at a secret sandbar ;). Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when some chest high sets waves were pushing in with moderate offshores.
Quick background on the board, as Gabe Kling would say “god forbid you ride stock dimensions MattO..” I am definitely guilty of tweaking good designs and not getting the results I want but this board seems to have worked out.. Shorter, fatter and EPS is the ticket here.. I added a small amount of volume for winter and squashed it down.

Man I was surprised with this one. Initially thinking I squashed it down too much and distorted the rocker, I figured the thing would only work when it was good and that is not why I ordered this one. I wanted a bread and butter smaller wave performance stick and I am pretty certain it worked out. 2″ shorter, 1/4″ wider and 1/16″ thicker than my normal Flyer and Spine tek EPS added about .3L (which is alot for me). It instantly got up to speed quickly, held it speeds down the line and almost had too much pop off the top at first… I was using large Merrick Aircore fins and could use the glass Fanning set to tighten it up on the next session.. Just wanted to share since this was the most fun session I have had in over a month. Happy Holidays!
