Yesterday's Quote of the Day
It’s a wrap! The grom contest is done. I’m going to go take a nap. Going to surf first though.
~ Heard from Gabe Kling on Saturday afternoon
Classic Quote of the Month
“I had a great visit yesterday at the Surf Station. Everyone I met was so nice and down to earth and reminded me why I always keep coming back to Florida, … cause of the people. I’ve been to surf shops all over the world and the Surf Station is a real core surf shop with a well versed staff that simply loves Surfing and rips. I first visited the Surf Station in 1993 and felt the real surf vibe there.. I just had started shaping and I remember telling my self one day Im going to have my boards in this shop and now I do! Congrats to Tory for keeping the stoke alive in North Florida for well over 30 years!”

5:15 am: Super super windy all day today with Cat 4 130 mph Hurricane Idalia to the west of us. The hurricane is moving fast in the Gulf of Mexico to the NNE at 18 mph and will make landfall from the Gulf to land this morning, between Cedar key and Apalachicola then cross Florida into Georgia today. Today is our ‘big weather event’ with the worst of the storm behind us by late tonight. Tomorrow, Thursday, may still be a little stormy, but will be clearing, with much better weather for the weekend
7:05 am: Waves are larger than yesterday as a new strong SE windswell in relation to Hurricane Idalia mixes with the Hurricane Franklin groundswell from yesterday. Waves 3-5 feet and very choppy. The wind is SE @ 26-33 knots measured at the pier at 6 am this morning. The marine forecast calling for S winds 35-45 knots with gusts to 70 knots today. On the the local buoy, the early wave height measurement is 6.2 feet at 6 seconds up in size & down in duration from yesterdays 4.6 feet @ 12 seconds.
