Surf Report comments:

6:50 am: The Hurricane Lee groundswell is increasing slowly. Quite slowly increasing as it’s only a little bit bigger than yesterday at this time. In any event there are some long period groundswells. Wave size 3 to occasionally 3 is the early morning call. It’s semi-glassy with light offshore winds early . The marine forecast for an easterly seabreaze later today. On the the local buoy, the early wave height measurement is 3.0 feet at 13 seconds up from yesterdays 2.3 feet at 14 seconds You can watch the waves firsthand on our live surf cam page.

7:35 am: Early morning photos are up in box #1 and you can see some semi-glassy to glassy waves at least rib high on sets. The form seems to be improving as strong onshores of late yesterfay have calmed down and even gone offshore, cleaning up the incoming groundswell. It’s not super clean just yet and not sure if it will get there as the wind may go back onshore at some point today. Still, it’s glassy and ‘not too big’ making for an easier paddleout then expected. The full swell is not here yet. The buoys are still trending upward offshore.

11:45 am: It’s looking like the first signs of the Hurricane Lee swell are starting to show, with waves in the 2-3 foot range, with occasional 4 foot sets. Surface conditions have just a bit of light chop now, with our local winds currently blowing at 8 knots out of the N. It’s still pretty clean, but not like this early morning’s conditions. It’s starting to work on the outside at report time, breaking soft with just a few pushing through. The waves are breaking pretty quick on the inside, mostly closing out at report time. The waves are in the waist to chest high range and looking to increase throughout the day into tomorrow.

6:15 pm: there are 47 new photos up in box #3, taken throughout the day. Surf spots include 3rd Street. Mary Street, The Pier, 10th Street, and more. Photos taken from mid morning to mid afternoon. Since then, the wind has picked up and it looks a little choppier. But there should be plenty of groundswell waves all the way up to dark tonight. Models continue to forecast Lee, a long-track Cabo Verde origin hurricane, to be a large/ strong hurricane while re-curving 750 or so miles east of Florida Wednesday, just before weakening some more as it accelerates north toward Down East Maine/Nova Scotia late week with potential landfall on Saturday. The SIZEABLE multi-day, long period ground swell will build through mid-week and peak in size Thursday morning.. See Dean’s 7-Day Surf Forecast for the details..
