7:45 am: Much cooler at beach. A cold front with new NNW winds bringing much cooler air and shifting our swell direction to the N. It hasn’t increased much but it is trying. Wave size @ 1 to 2 feet in angled N swell. The wind is strong from the NNW @ 18-20 knots. On our local buoy the early morning reading is 5.9 feet at 6 seconds up in size but down in duration from yesterdays 3.0 feet at 8 seconds. 8:45 am: Early morning photos are up and posted in box #1 and you can see the sideoffshore conditions. Sweeping N swell with some whitecaps at sea. Near shore it can be fairly clean at times, with even some opening up right hand tubes. The lefts are pushing down the beach with the very angled swell. The size will likely increase with all this wind. Looks like wetsuit weather is coming….

1:10 pm: New afternoon photos are up in box #2 and you can see its choppier than this morning and bigger too. Larger surf with lots of wind messing it all up. A developing strong current from N to S. Over all it looks super junky, messy, and drifty

4:05 pm: Looking very similar to the last report. Choppy and sloppy and super drifty. Waves easily chest high on many of the waves. Be prepared to drift if you are going to paddle out….

8:30 pm: New evening photos are up and posted in box #3 and you can see it’s even bigger with very sizable waves just before dark. The photos were taken from 16th Street and the waves were breaking on the far far outside. Some over chest high waves with a whole lot ot current from north to south.

And this will do it until early tomorrow morning. We will be back then with a fresh update…. over and out…

The week-long onshore flow combined with TS Tammy’s lingering ground swell produced sizeable surf for the Tommy Tant Memorial in Flagler Beach with wind lighter for the contest!. Dean’s Surf Forecast carries through the contest into Halloween (trick or treat?) and will be detailing the next sizeable swell building through the second half of the work week.
