Surf Report comments:

7:15 am: The NE’er conditions continue and have strengthened. Super choppy / rough surface conditions with waves 3.5 to 4.5 feet with larger set waves. The winds is E @ 16-18 knots. On the local buoy the early morning wave height reading is 8.5 feet at 10 seconds, changed from yesterdays 8.9 feet at 8 seconds. The marine forecast is calling for strong NE winds today. The water temperature is measured at 62.8 degrees at The Pier this morning. View The Surf Station Cam Page here.

8:15 am: Early morning photos are up and posted in box #1 and you can see we have sizable waves once again as we start out for your Friday. The local buoy peaked near 13 feet overnight, and has settled back to to and early morning ready of 9.2 feet at 10 seconds reading at 7 am. That is still very very large! Along the beach some very large outside set waves. The duration has spread out some, with some real thickness to the swell. Definitely some well overhead set waves, even on the inside, as the tide pushes in. Super choppy …so… there was some talk among a few surfers to head to a spot protected from the northerly wind, to find cleaner surf. Well guess what? The wind has unexpectedly clocked more easterly this morning, thwarting that move.

So overall expect super choppy waves today, although surfing on the inside could be fun, as not near as choppy in there. Maybe even a smooth faced drop in. The only thing about that is – getting pounded during the paddle back out after nearly every wave caught.

It’s not often we are waiting for the surf to ‘calm down’, today is one of those rare days…

5:30 pm: New photos from mid day and evening are up and posted in box #2 with the evening photos posted near the end of the slide show. You can see we have large surf! Some overhead waves on the far outside with very windy conditions. Looks like lots of crazy weather and large surf ahead……

Looking way ahead to the week before Christmas, Dean says there will be a significant ground swell to follow… look for a tease update in the coming days.
