Comments: Definitely some fun surf.
The out of control Hurricane victory at Sea conditions of eaRlier are cleaNing up; the wind swinging more offshore A we get closer to dark with the winds switching. More offshore winds tomorrow....
12:15 pm: Strong hurricane Irma to the west of us. Surf increased dramatically overnight. 6-10ft w larger set waves – waves breaking as far as eye can see. Local buoy: 17 ft 11 sec. ESE swell. SE 68 knots rotating more South at around 25 – 45 knots Seas up to 28ft. Starting to see sprays off the lefts. Lighter SW winds 15- 20 knots tomorrow – more cleanup then. Beginning of the clean up continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening. More offshore wind due here tomorrow. Photos in box #1.
2:45 pm: Really super large giant surf. More photos were taken and will try and get them posted before dark…
8:15 pm: The wind clocked some from Sideonshore to sideoffshore and thus the surf is beginning to clean up. Some photos from this afternoon will be posted soon in box #2.

Major Hurricane Irma is hogging the headlines (rightfully so), but the best surf conditions come after Irma departs when the wind eases and clocks offshore, allowing Hurricane Jose’s clean long period ground swell to filter in for days on end. Dean’s Surf Station Surf Forecast has the call.
