Legendary Shaper Ricky Carroll Visits the Surf Station
This past weekend, the Surf Station hosted legendary surfboard shaper Ricky Carroll. The talent behind his own label as well as Donald Takayama and Black Rose Mfg. surfboards, Carroll started his career back in 1973. At the ripe age of 13, he picked up a planer and began crafting surfboards in the Sunshine State.
Fast forward to 2009, he secured his third win in the Icons of Foam Shape-Off. While this contest does pit shaper against shaper to determine one winner, it ultimately pays homage to the talents that are a part of the craft.
Ricky came by the shop to hang out and showcase some boards with son Dane. World Champion Justin Quintal came to check out these beauties.
