The 33rd annual Wave Masters Pro-Am was held at Jacksonville Pier on May 7th and 8th in glassy 2’ surf with offshore winds in beautiful weather all weekend. Surf Station team rider Braeden Kopec took full advantage of the clean conditions to post scores of 9’s with back-up wave scores of 8’s on his way to two podium finishes in two division including a first place and a fourth place finish. Surfing through several preliminary heats on Saturday Braeden advanced through the quarters and semis with two firsts and a second posting solid scores in each round in the mid 7’s.
In a few weeks Braeden will head to California to compete in two prestigious events, the NSSA Nationals at Huntington Beach and the Volcom TCT Tour World Championships at Lowers where he was one of only 32 to qualify in his age division from Volcom’s tour stops around the world. Braeden recently picked up Eastern Surfing Association’s district season champion in U12 (3rd year in a row) and season champion in U14 (2nd year in a row). He is also the NSSA’s regional season champion for the 3rd consecutive year in in both Explorer Super-Grom and Open Mini-Grom divisions.
