This afternoon I went to the St. Augustine Beach Pier and shot the incoming tide. The current swell reading on the buoy is 5.7ft @ 8 seconds, which is pretty big. This brought head+ surf onto the inside and easily overhead surf to the outside. You know it must be big when it is high tide and the outside is continuing to break and actually looks ridable. I shot from 2:30pm until about 5pm. Winds were gusting hard out of the north. Below are some of the shots I took. Enjoy 🙂

Here are a couple pulled back shots. As you can see, waves were walled up nicely and there were even some intense barrels
It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows today. Cole Smyth dropped out of the sky on a mental head high dumper. While in the wave, his board flew up and hit his face. He had to go to the hospital for six stitches. (@jungle._.shrimp)

The surf was super heavy and fun! It was probably the heaviest surf I have seen this year. Tropical Depression one has formed and will likely become Tropical Storm Aurther soon so you can thank soon-to-be Aurther for this swell. Waves continue tomorrow and Monday so go get some!
