New Wave Tech Brings Barrels to the Bridge of Lions
Soon the Nation’s Oldest City will become home to the world’s newest wave technology. That’s right – the historic Bridge of Lions will become home to a pneumatic wave pool, appropriately named the St. Augustine Surf Center, that will rival the world’s best surf spots. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the latest and greatest in wave tech, this type of pool generates waves by creating “wind” in pressurized chambers, similar to how natural waves are formed.
So what’s that mean for surfers? Well, it means that the St. Augustine Surf Center will be able to provide anything from ankle-high peelers to overhead kegging barrels, all in one spot. But the amenities don’t stop there.
This world-class wave pool will host some of our small town Floridian classics that will set this attraction apart from any other artificial wave in the world. The St. Augustine Surf Center plans to offer a variety of unique sessions, from dark chocolate barrels courtesy of Whetstone Chocolate, to croc-filled beachbreak brought to you by the Alligator Farm for you thrill-seekers out there.
Some purists may disagree with these new innovations that allow the surf to be brought to the concrete, but we here at the Surf Station just have one thing to say:
