Hey Tory,
Just curious if you have any insight on the legality of surfing this years dredge. The sand has barely started to form but I’ve been surfing it on and off last few weeks. Yesterday I was walking up the beach to paddle out and over just south of the construction zone. Waves weren’t great but better than nothing. As a approached a sabpd officer in a suv approached and told me there was no surfing allowed in front of the dredge. I told him I’ve never had a issue over last 3 dredges and that its always been allowed as long as we entered the water before the construction zone. We had a respectful back and forth conversation and compromised that I would stick to the left side of the sandbar and not go beyond the pipe. He continued patrolling the beach south of the construction zone and didn’t leave the entire time I surfed. What’s the deal? Can they legally keep us out of the ocean?
