The Surf Station has teamriders all over the world. One of which is Lauren Hill (@theseakin). We reached out to Lauren who went to “The Seychelles” and asked her to tell us about them, why she went there, and this photo.
Lauren: “The Seychelles are small group islands a thousand miles from anywhere in the Indian Ocean, and while completely uncrowded surf was the major draw card, the islands have so much more to offer: the magic of rare, endemic flora, the intermingling of African beats and Euro cuisine, and the lore of French corsairs’ buried treasure. Humans didn’t find themselves amongst this earthly paradise until the 1770s, though vague sightings of the islands can be traced back to the 12th century. I decided to head to the Seychelles because of the potential for fun, user-friendly surf. There’s a variety of wave set-ups, from pointbreaks to rocky reefs to gentle, rolling beach breaks. Since surfing culture doesn’t have much of a foothold there yet, we knew that IF we scored, we’d have waves all to ourselves amongst some of the dreamiest backdrops imaginable.”
