Timmy Curran Rides the Channel Islands’ Rocket Wide Model from CI Surfboards on Vimeo.
Introducing the Rocket Wide—Channel Islands Surfboards’ incredibly user-friendly cousin of the Rocket 9. Although designed by the Gudauskus brothers as a groveler, CI team riders like Timmy Curran (here) reported that this new model does a lot more than it was initially designed for, making it a well rounded, go-to board in average to below average conditions.
The Rocket Wide features a wider tail block to skate across flat sections and a wider nose area to accommodate for better paddle power. It’s a shorter, wider skate machine designed to lift the fun factor when the waves are not at their best. But as you can see here, it works great in the good stuff too. Available stock in 3 or 5 fin configurations and advanced surfers will ride this 2″-4″ shorter than their height. Timmy is riding a 5’5″ x 19 x 2 5/16 25.8L with Spine-Tek option, CI’s new Engineered Flex technology that provides added performance in and around the pocket.
