Hello true believers!
Welcome back, I am excited for today’s feature as I finally got together with local lady shredder, Eden Lange! Eden is an up and coming local stand out, Surf Station team rider, straight A student and all around all-star employee at the shop. A few years back I purchased my home in St. Augustine Beach which is located in a small old school neighborhood near the pier. I had always known the Lange family from around town but never knew where the whole clan resided until then as they were now my neighbors!
I’m sure most people know but Eden has an all-star, toe-headed shredder for a brother, Benji and a sister, Gigi. In addition to the Langes, the Luteran bunch(6 kids!) lives here too so the neighborhood was alive with groms! Such a cool thing to see kids actually playing outside again… and one thing was certain, Eden ran the pack. Eden has ridden many different shapes in her short amateur surf career but I think she has settled on her preferred shaper.. the legendary central Florida based Matt Kechele.
I have known Matt personally for over 20 years as I grew up surfing the fabled peaks at his local spot, Sebastian Inlet. There were many heavy locals there in the 90s but not many received as much respect as Matt did and probably still does to this day. It is rare to see his level of surfing be maintained for over 40 years all riding personally shaped boards.. he is still quite a sight to watch surf! So combine his natural talent in the water and experience behind a planer and you get world class boards made right here in Florida. Eden recognized this and is now on her second Kechele shape.. enjoy!!

Words on the board from Eden:
“I really like this board because it has enough foam for me to ride it in almost any
conditions. I can ride it at punchy, dumpy Vilano and then take it to the pier where it’s
usually mushier and it still works great! I am able to do snappy, quick maneuvers as well
as long, drawn-out power carves, which are my favorite! This is the second Kechele I
have gotten and I really love working with Matt because he listens to all of my
suggestions and gives great me feedback.”
The Grinder is one of our team rider’s most ridden performance models but we have many different designs in stock. Check out our inventory of Matt Kechele surfboards here! The Surf Station has carried his boards for nearly thirty years and has no plans to stop!
