Meet Yago Dora a little better in the new episode of our Novatos series.
He arrived just in time. And it came in a different way. The boy was not a promised supergrommet when he was ten, twelve years old. He started surfing a little bit later – but the talent was born and the evolution came quickly. He grew up under the tutelage of top surfing coach, his father Leandro “Grilo” Dora, and learned to surf alongside names like Lucas Silveira, the late Ricardo dos Santos and later world champion Adriano de Souza.
The rookie of Santa Catarina emerged on the international stage as freesurfer, given the amount of material that yields in his sessions. He robbed the scene in Volcom movies and trips, won the Brazilian public and gringo alike – all this with only his maneuvers and style, without depending on results – and only then went to play the WQS for real. But when he turned his head and decided to focus on the competitions, it was only a matter of time before he entered the WT.
